Without a specific plan in place, you\u2019re likely to end up without as much money as you need. Talk to a financial adviser and figure out what the best way is for you to save for retirement.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Thinking Any Amount of Saving Is Fine <\/strong>Almost as bad as going in with no plan at all is thinking that as long as you\u2019re saving something, you\u2019re doing well. It\u2019s true that something is better than nothing, but it\u2019s likely still not going to be enough. There are a variety of factors that contribute to how much you\u2019ll need, including the rate of inflation, how long you\u2019ll live after retirement and more. Because it\u2019s such a complex equation, most people tend to underestimate how much they\u2019ll need to carry them through\u2014sometimes drastically. Many of the experts you see on television get paid a great deal to be on television, thus they can afford to take higher risks than you can.\u00a0 Take what they say as a guide, but not as incontrovertible. Talk to your own financial planner about your personal circumstances, now and in the future, and see what they think will work best for you.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
